Wolfgang Uhl is Senior Specialist Water Process Engineering with more than 30 years of experience in the water industry. He also is Adjunct Professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Institute for Civil and Environmental Engineering, in Trondheim.
With M.Sc. degrees in Chemical Engineering from Karlsruhe University, Germany, and Biotechnology from Lund Institute of Technology, Sweden, he later obtained a PhD in Mechanical Process Engineering at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany. Wolfgang worked as project- and workgroup manager at the IWW Water Centre, one of Germany’s leading water research institutes, in Mülheim/Ruhr, Germany, before he became full professor in Water Supply Engineering at Technische Universität Dresden, Germany, in 2004. In 2015 joined the Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) until he came to the COWI group in November 2019.
His expertise covers a broad range from fundamental research to optimization of all types of water treatment processes, modelling of water quality changes during water distribution, quality and treatment of swimming pool water, quality and treatment of water in industrial production including the food industry, integrated water resource management, and climate change impacts.
He has managed several large international research projects.
