In 2009 an industrial manufacturer of dietary food supplements needed to expand their wastewater treatment capacity due to continued business growth.
A 20 year old activated sludge wastewater treatment system was upgraded to include a larger flow equalization zone and fixed film using moving media was added as a roughing stage prior to suspended growth treatment.
Over the past 5 years there have been treatment plant process operation modifications and changes within the manufacturing operation. Several beneficial results occurred, including a significant waste concentration reduction which requires less aeration energy within the treatment zone. For 5 years, treatment goals are met as flows have gradually increased.
